The Morrigan- Two sides of her personality
Despite her fearsome aspect about her and what most people in anicent Celtic times thought about the Goddess she did have a side to her that most didn't know. In this discussion i will try to show that different side of her. I have also included a great video that my friend Elaine has introduce me to which i hope that you all will enjoy too...
As i have said before, Morriagan
has herfearsome side, and, her fair side too.
She appears to the legenary Irish hero
Cuchulainn as a red - hair beauty in a
high bronze chariot. She offers
Cuchulainn the Irish hero her horse and
cattle, the bounty of her kingdom, and
also her Love! The Irish Hero
Cuchulainn turns the mighty Morriagan
away. By saying' That he is too busy
with war to be concerned with
"the backside of a women"! [You can only
image what the goddess reaction was in those
times. Being turned down and being called a
mirror women. if i could only see the fire in
her eyes then....] Well you could only
imagation how she reacted by defying her
and disdaining her gifts, he didn't know but
would find out very soon that he brought
his death to himself by his actions...
So this is one side of The Morrigan..
Now lets look at her a different way...
PEACE AND FERTILITY :
The Morrigan also shows her fair face after the Second Battle of Moyture between the Tuatha De' Danann and the Fomorians, when, having incited the former during the fighting, she proclaims the resultant peace with the same enthusiasm, climbing up hills and mountains and announcing it in a paean of praise for the land and all her people to hear;
'I PROCLAIM PEACE, PEACE THAT STRETCHES TO THE SKY; THAT LIES UPON THE EARTH UNDER THE SKY. I CALL UP STRENGTH IN EVERY MAN AND WOMAN; THAT THEIR CUP WILL BRIM WITH FULLNESS OF SWEET HONEY."
IN THE EARLIEST STORY IN WHICH SHE FEATURES, SHE IS DEPICTED AS THE CONSORT OF THE DAGDA, THE "GOOD GOD." IN AN ACCOUNT OF THEIR COUPLING OVER THE RIVER UNIUS, SHE IS SEEN IN HER LIFE-GIVING ASPECT AS THE QUEEN OF FERTILITY. iN THIS RESPECT, PERHAPS SURPRISINGLY, SHE IS LINKED WITH THE BRIGHTEST GODESS IN THE CANON, ONE WHO MAY POSSIBLY ALSO HAVE BEEN HER DAUGHTER: THE SUN GODESS BRIGID.

Yeah the Morrigan goddess, and any of them have very different lives and are also are interpited differently thought time too...
